Seniors Program Information

This presentation can be described as a review for mature drivers/pedestrians and a reminder of the mortality of everyone.
Our presentation is approximately one hour in length, done via a power point with videos and including a question and answer period (group and private). This module encompasses the following:
  • Use of Seat Belts
  • Insurance and the need for it
  • Should I keep my vehicle (cost)
  • AND IF YOU DECIDE TO SELL---make sure that you apply for and get an experience letter from your insurance office.
  • Parking Lots and the art of Parking
  • Reversing
  • Rules of the Road (Ontario Highway Traffic Act)
  • Left Turns
  • Amber and Red Lights
  • Cross Walks
  • H. O. V. What is it and what are the guidelines for their use.
  • Centre Turn Lane (or the suicide lane). How to use it correctly
  • Advance Green, Arrow or Flashing
  • Vehicle and Pedestrians
  • Walking on left side of road
  • Correct use of the cross walk
  • “J” walking
  • Intersections and the “stale” light
  • Countdown signals
  • Pedestrians being alert all the time
  • Reaction Time, What is it?
  • Slow Driving
  • Taking the “B” roads
  • Scooters and Wheel Chairs

It should also be noted that this program changes continually to reflect the needs of the community it serves.
